How much does a website cost in Sri Lanka in 2026?

Real LKR prices for business websites and online stores, what makes one quote higher than another, and the running costs most people forget to ask about.

By Xura Global6 min read

Key takeaways

  • A professionally built business website at Xura Global starts from LKR 45,000; an online store starts from LKR 80,000. Both include the domain, hosting and SSL for the first year plus a year of free maintenance.
  • The price is driven by the number of pages, the features you need (payments, booking, extra languages), who writes the content and what support you get after launch.
  • Compare quotes on what they include, not the headline number. A cheap build with no maintenance, backups or renewals in writing often costs more over two years.
  • Ask every web designer for the yearly renewal costs of the domain, hosting and maintenance before you sign.

At Xura Global, a business website in Sri Lanka starts from LKR 45,000 and an e-commerce website starts from LKR 80,000. Both prices include the domain, hosting and SSL certificate for the first year and a year of free maintenance. The final price depends on the number of pages, the features you need and who writes the content.

The table below is pulled from our live price list, so it always shows current rupee prices. Each package lists exactly what's included; the full breakdown is on our pricing page.

You'll find quotes both well below and well above these numbers. Template sites set up by a freelancer can cost less, while custom systems with integrations cost more. The useful comparison is what each quote includes, which the next sections cover.

What affects the price of a website?

Six things set the price of a website: how many pages it has, whether the design is custom or template-based, the features it needs, who writes and uploads the content, which outside systems it connects to and what support is included after launch. Pages and features usually make the biggest difference.

  • Pages and structure. A single-page site with a few sections is the simplest build. Every extra page needs its own layout, content and SEO setup.

  • Design. A customised template is quicker to build. A layout designed around your brand and customers takes more design time but looks less generic.

  • Features. Online payments, booking, live chat, a blog or a second language each add build and testing time.

  • Content. If you supply the text and photos, the price stays lower. Professional copywriting and product uploading add to the cost but usually improve results.

  • Integrations. Payment gateways, courier services, POS, CRM or accounting software each need setting up and testing.

  • After launch. Maintenance, backups, security updates and small content edits are either included, charged monthly or not offered at all.

What should a website quote in Sri Lanka include?

A good website quote lists the number of pages or sections, the design approach, every feature, who provides the content, the domain and hosting details, the SSL certificate, basic SEO setup, the number of revision rounds, the delivery time, the payment schedule and exactly what maintenance covers after launch. Anything not written down is usually extra.

  • Domain ownership. The domain should be registered in your name or your company's name, not the designer's.

  • Hosting and renewals. Who hosts the site, how much space it has, and what it costs to renew after the first year.

  • Mobile layout and speed. Most Sri Lankan customers browse on a phone, often on mobile data, so the site should be designed for phones first.

  • SEO basics. Page titles, descriptions, a sitemap, Google Search Console and Google Analytics set up at launch.

  • Revisions and timeline. How many rounds of changes are included and when the site will go live.

  • Maintenance and backups. How long free support lasts, what it covers and how often backups are taken.

  • Handover. Logins for the domain, hosting and website admin, and training so you can make small edits yourself.

How much does an e-commerce website cost in Sri Lanka?

An e-commerce website at Xura Global starts from LKR 80,000, including store design, a payment gateway integration, products pre-loaded, the first year of hosting and domain, and a year of free maintenance. Larger catalogues, extra payment gateways, customer accounts and integrations with POS or courier systems move a store into the higher packages or a custom quote.

Two costs sit outside the build price. Payment gateways charge their own fee on each transaction, and they usually ask for business documents before approving a merchant account, so start that application early. You'll also need clear product photos and descriptions; uploading a large catalogue is real work, so agree upfront who does it.

If you want to sell through a ready-made system instead, our shop lists pre-built stores and systems we customise in days.

What are the ongoing costs after a website is built?

After launch, a website has four recurring costs: the domain renewal, hosting, maintenance (updates, backups and fixes) and any paid services it uses, such as a payment gateway's transaction fees. At Xura Global the first year of domain, hosting and maintenance is included, so your first renewal comes twelve months after launch.

Both .lk domains, registered through the LK Domain Registry, and .com domains renew every year. Hosting is usually billed yearly too. After the first year you can continue with a maintenance plan or move the site elsewhere; you keep full access either way, with no lock-in.

Budget separately for marketing. A website brings enquiries when people can find it, through SEO, Google Business Profile, social media or ads.

Is a cheap website worth it?

A cheap website is worth it only if it still loads fast on a phone, can be updated easily, is registered in your name and comes with someone responsible for fixes. If any of those are missing, the savings usually disappear the first time something breaks, the designer stops replying or you need to rebuild.

The hidden cost of a poor website is lost enquiries rather than repair bills: people leave a slow or confusing site and contact a competitor instead. If budget is tight, a well-built single-page website is a better start than a large site done badly. You can add pages later.

How can you pay for a website in Sri Lanka?

Most Sri Lankan web designers ask for an advance before starting. At Xura Global, a 50% advance starts the project and the balance is due at launch. Website and e-commerce packages can also be paid in two or three interest-free monthly instalments, or upfront with a small discount. We accept bank transfer and Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards.

Payment terms are set out in our payment and refund policy.

How long does it take to build a website in Sri Lanka?

A business website usually takes one to four weeks and a standard online store two to four weeks, counted from the advance payment and receipt of your content. The biggest variable is usually how quickly text, photos, product details and feedback come back, not the build itself, so have them ready before you start.
